Hello, my name is Mary Penix and I am the Academic Counselor for Don Callejon Middle School. This is my third year at DC and I am excited to continue to get to know the students and community. I have lived in the Bay Area for over 17 years, having moved here from Ohio. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Cincinnati, and my PPS credential from San Jose State University. I have worked in Mental Health and Education, and have found the perfect balance of both by becoming a Middle School Counselor. I especially enjoy this population as it is such a formative time in student’s development both academically and socially/emotionally.
I am here to support students with their academics, as well as social issues. I want students to know that I am one of many caring staff here at Don Callejon that want to help them become the best students they can be. Students can come to me at any time, for any reason, and I will point them in the right direction, whether that is helping them directly or connecting them with additional services and resources.
I am a strong supporter of mind/body wellness and enjoy talking to students about healthy eating habits, being active, and developing tools for stress relief. A successful student means more than just good grades!
If you would like to set up an appointment please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or via School Loop.
