Welcome back to school and another exciting year in our library. I am looking forward to having our library open for our students and helping them select books that they will enjoy, learn from and maybe even, be inspired by. Our library can best meet the needs of our students and their families if we work together. Our library is the vibrant space that it is because of so many valuable volunteers. There is an array of volunteer opportunities in the library. Please stop by the library to chat and consider the many fun things available for volunteers – and to visit the coffee machine and chocolate bowl!
As we begin the school year, the priority is the distribution and covering of the middle school textbooks and I would truly welcome any of you who would like out help out with that endeavor. I expect library check out to begin the week of August 30 for all classes and parents, after the distribution of middle school textbooks is complete.
Our library will be open for students from 7:55 – 3; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 7:55 – 1:45 on Wednesday. Elementary students may come to the library with an adult after school. Our library is used daily for class instruction for grades K – 8, and I will ask you to wait until I am done with classes for the day before entering the library after school. Parents are welcome to check books out from out library – please stop by and fill out a Parent Library Code Request form. We must redo these each year so last year’s parent accounts are no longer valid. Parents are welcome to check out up to 7 books for a 1 week period of time.
Our continuing relationship with Hicklebees Bookstore in Willow Glen will again allow me to bring several authors to meet with our students at all grade levels. These author events are always at no cost to our school, thanks to the generosity of Hicklebees and provide our students with terrific opportunities to meet both well known and new authors face to face. Watch for information to come home as these events are planned.
